MAKO SHARKS SWIM CLUB WINS THE 2ND RAF NATIONAL HEROES SWIMMING CUP 2026
author : AdminMako Sharks Swim Club has once again made history after winning the 2nd Rwanda Aquatics Heroes National Swimming Cup 2026, a competition held on Sunday, March 1, 2026. The competition was organized by the Rwanda Aquatics Federation in collaboration with the CHENO (National Commission for Heroes, Medals and Orders of Honour), as part of activities to celebrate Rwanda Heroes Day through sport. The event brought together several swimming clubs from across the country, with swimmers competing in different age groups and events while demonstrating talent, determination, and sportsmanship. Mako Sharks Swim Club secured first place with 2706 points, showing a remarkable improvement compared to 1516 points in 2025. This strong performance highlights the club’s continued growth and commitment to developing competitive swimmers. This victory marks the second Rwanda Aquatics Heroes National Swimming Cup title for Mako Sharks and the 12th trophy in the club’s history since 2017, further strengthening its reputation as one of the leading swimming clubs in Rwanda. Interview with the Club President Speaking after the competition, the President of Mako Sharks Swim Club, James Bazatsinda, expressed his pride in the team’s performance and the progress the club continues to make. “We are very proud of this achievement. Winning this cup again is a reflection of the hard work of our swimmers, coaches, and the strong support from parents. Reaching our 12th trophy since 2017 is a major milestone for the club and shows that our vision of developing young swimmers in Rwanda is moving in the right direction.” He also emphasized that the club’s mission goes beyond winning competitions. “Our goal is not only to win medals but also to build disciplined athletes and future champions who can represent Rwanda at international competitions.” Interview with the Head Coach The Head Coach of Mako Sharks Swim Club, Patrick Rukundo, also praised the swimmers for their dedication and commitment during training. “Our swimmers worked very hard during preparation, and their performance during the competition showed their determination and discipline. The improvement in points compared to last year shows that the level of swimming in our club is continuously improving.” He added that the club will continue focusing on developing young talent and preparing swimmers for future national and international competitions.
